Refunds and Reprints

The short version. You see the first pages free before you pay. If you change your mind before your finished book arrives, you get your money back. If the finished book isn't right, we fix it first, and refund you if we can't. If a printed book has a mistake we made, a printing fault, or arrives damaged or not at all, we print and send a new one for free.

Before your finished book is delivered

Changed your mind? Write to us before we email you the finished book and we refund your whole order, shipping included.

If the finished book isn't right

Tell us within 14 days of receiving your digital book. We fix it first: we rewrite lines, correct facts and redraw pictures, as many times as it reasonably takes.
If we still can't make it right, we refund the digital book in full.
If your hardcover hasn't gone to print yet, we hold it until the book is right, or refund it in full if you don't want it anymore.

Printed books

Every hardcover is printed just for you, so we can't take it back because you changed your mind once it has been printed. But we reprint and ship a new copy for free if:

it has a mistake we made, including something you told us that we got wrong,
it has a printing or binding fault,
it arrives damaged, or
it doesn't arrive: tracking shows no progress for 10 business days after the delivery estimate.

Tell us within 30 days of delivery, with your order number and a photo of the problem. You don't need to send the book back. If you would rather have a refund than a reprint, we refund the hardcover and its shipping instead.

If you gave us a wrong address and the book comes back to us, we can send it again, but you pay the new shipping. If you want to change words you already approved after the book is printed, we can print an updated copy at our cost price.

How to ask

Email hello@butterpages.com with your order number (it starts with BP-). A person answers, usually within one business day. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, and usually show up within 5 to 10 business days.
